SYMLS are pleased to welcome Dr Victoria Lomax, who is a Senior Clinical Psychologist in Forensic Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. Dr Lomax has worked in the eld of child and adolescent mental health for over 10 years. In her current role she offers psychological consultation to professionals working with children and young people who are at risk of offending, or have offended, and have a concurrent mental health, neurodevelopment or learning difficulty.
Dr Lomax will present the connections between different forms of psychological trauma, including systemic or environmental trauma, and how this can shape future behaviour. In particular, Dr Lomax will explain how trauma can impact the child and how their experiences can manifest in harmful sexual behaviour. She will introduce research which indicates how positive intervention to address the underlying issues can help.
Please be advised that this presentation will include examples and discussion of psychological trauma, and subsequent harmful behaviours displayed by, Children and Young People which some people may find distressing. Please take this into consideration before registering or attending the event.
